“Wait…Rose, I…I don’t understand!” Jake shouted, the Huntsclan helicopters whirring loudly, surrounding the two teens amongst a dreary, foggy storm.

She angrily grabbed her Huntsgirl mask, putting it back over her face. “Yes you do, Jake! You know why this can’t work!” She grabbed her Huntsclan staff, made specially to slay magical creatures, and pointed it at the dragon in front of her. “We’re on different sides. There’s nothing we can do.”

He stared at the end of her weapon - so close it was making him cross-eyed. “Rose…I don’t want to hurt you.”

She shut her eyes tight and the staff lowered very slightly. “I don’t want to hurt you, either.” She looked back at him and whispered, “…so make this look good.”
